Access uses ladders to take Smart Creative to higher level
Talk about your full-service agency.
At 7 a.m. on a recent morning in Elmwood Park, the Access team was up a tree. Literally.
Before sunrise, we climbed ladders to tie rattles on a prominent downtown tree to call attention to Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) for our client The Children’s Advocacy Center.
The campaign, which informs the public of the danger of shaking a baby, unleashed a full arsenal of smart creative on the important topic. Components included:
Viral Marketing: Hundreds of baby rattles were hung on a tree, each representing a baby that died from SBS. The tree was carefully selected because of its proximity to the park, hospital, library and visibility to the road.

Public Relations: Virtually all local news media attended the event to capture the mayor, City Councilmen and key members of the medical community tie the final rattles on the tree.

Print: A powerful print presentation including a custom illustration from artist Doug Thompson.

Radio: With the help of ARCA Studios, a radio script was produced that tied the theme to the tree.
Listen to the radio spot.
Premiums: Rattles and T-shirts bearing the theme and the client logo were produced.
See the rattles.
Digital: A Web site on Shaken Baby Syndrome was produced.

Final results? Certainly, thousands of Roanokers are now aware of SBS, and if the campaign prevented just one child from getting shaken...then it was a pretty smart investment of our time.
